Sometimes we would help serve dinner for the kids at Wat Don Chen
Before dinner they would sing a song thanking us and whoever donated food or money for them to eat.
In Thai, "eat a meal" is "Gin kaow", which means "eat rice". The girls eat a lot of it, but the boys would eat absurd amounts. I got blisters on my fingers when I was the rice scooper at the boy's mess hall.
